I'm going to try Rebecca Frankels recipe and see if my film looks like Sean's. I suspect not. Many years ago - did a degree in documentary production. I've forgotten all the rules now but I know what makes a good documentary film. It's to do with engagement - a kind of a partnership where subjects discover power that they forgot they had. A bit like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz...

Hi Sean
I enjoyed the new film very much. I thought the opening sequence was classic - your frustrations laid bare! Read some of your blogs too - Japan eh?
I find festival audiences a bit annoying - lots of media students maybe. The question about your intervention bugged me a lot - as if we don't change things! I'm sorry i missed the party on Friday - damn - next time I hope!
My request is that you come and speak to some young film-makers in April 09 (23rd is planned but can be changed).
The project is called Young Directors - Part 2 (Part 1 happenned this year - 4 short film scripts ready to go).
More information on our website www. cascadearts. org. uk
As ever it's subject to funding (via First Light - supporters of young film makers) but as they funded Part 1 - we're optimistic. Decision by December. Want to hold the event at the KC - all hail!
Hope to hear from you soon...
Best
